More Housecoats
« on: April 05, 2018, 08:29:53 PM »
On today's 4/5 US episode, I noticed another dress that looked like  robe or housecoat. It may have been Ashley this time. It looked a bit like a wraparound dress, but somehow was dowdier than the wraparounds of the '70's. I think there was even a fabric belt. It really looked like a robe to me!

Was the dress/robe blue with red flowers? It that's the one, I thought it was odd too. It seemed too voluminous, and the back hem looked longer than the front. Usually Ashely wears form-fitting clothing.

I think this is it.  It's so not Ashley's style.

That dress of Ashley’s was a horrible fit and style for her.  Not to mention the gaudy print.

It reminds me of a robe my sister has--a blue faux silk kimono style with flowers all over it.

That’s hideous. The “fashion” has really been off the past few weeks  :-\

Truly hideous, and the long hair, and long back hem drag her entire face & body down.  In the April 5th tomato red dress I almost commented that she must have eaten a couple of huge meals because both her upper & lower abdomen were bulging. One size larger would have looked fantastic.

She's a 50 something woman, things will bulge, she looks great in the red dress.  I wish I had a body like Ashley.

The colors in Ashley's dress are so beautiful and vibrant, too bad the style isn't equally attractive.  Yes, it does look like a bathrobe.  Wardrobe has been dressing Ash in some awful stuff lately.

Do the actors have ANY say about what they wear?  It's hard to imagine E.D. (Ashley) being WILLING to wear something like this!

Oh my goodness. I said the same thing. When I saw her at home I thought it was her robe, and then when she was out in public in that I was shocked. I really thought it was a robe.

Apparently the wrap dress is back in style and this article purports that they flatter everyone https://www.harpersbazaar.com/uk/fashion/what-to-wear/news/g38127/best-wrap-dresses/
but they all look fugly and unflattering to me.

I remember wrap dresses being a thing back in the day but I don't recall them looking like bathrobes.  Hopefully this particular trend will be short-lived.

Wrap dresses can be a flattering choice but IMO, not with these ugly hi-lo hems (which I'm not a fan of) and even uglier fabric patterns.

If Ashley was wearing this thing as a bathrobe, it might be OK.  But as a dress it doesn't even fit her. Look at how loose it is around the bust and underarms.

Let's save this for the year-end "Worst of..." fashion nominations.   ;D

Oh my gosh--the new wrap-arounds look like a housecoat that had a fight with a granny dress and nobody won! The 1970's wrap-arounds were slim-fitting, without any ruffles or anything. To me, they seemed classic and kind of elegant, letting the woman's body speak for itself. I really don't understand these new ones at all.
